The Palma International Boat Show (PIBS 2023) is a four-day event which brings together yacht brokers, charter companies, businesses and enthusiasts worldwide.
This year the show took place between April 27th and April 30th and was filled with activities. The show had everything from exploring new yachts to learning about the latest start-up companies.
New Technology, Luxury Yachts And Trends For 2023
1. Day 1
Setting The Tone
The boat show opens at 10 am every day, and we recommend arriving around that time to avoid the crowds and heat of Palma.
On the first day, we were given a map of the event and walked around the marina to familiarise ourselves with the location, companies and yachts.
Seeing the variety of boats showcased was exciting, from smaller, tender-like powerboats to massive 100ft catamarans.
For lunch, we head to Palma town, which we recommend. Even though the marina offers plenty of options, it's nice to walk around town and explore local cuisine. In the afternoon, we met with several companies, including some exciting startups in the boating industry. It was fascinating to hear about his innovative ideas and new technologies they had to offer, which are directed at being eco and green!
2. Day 2
Touring An Oyster Yacht 625
The second day was the highlight of the show. We had a wonderful tour onboard an Oyster Yacht 625. We met the crew and people who work for the company and had a wonderful chat with them. The yacht was stunning, with exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail; you can see our boat tour video here.
Later that day, we attended an event hosted by Phoenix One, a company that provides electric engine services. It was fascinating to learn about the benefits of electric propulsion in the boating industry and how it is becoming more popular, which will have its own blog post soon.
3. Day 3
Exploring More Yachts
On the third day, we continued to explore more yachts and met with companies that offer yacht charters. It is important for us to understand the market and new tendencies, trends, and technologies.
At SailChecker, we focus on customer experience and a hands-on approach with our clients, and being able to step on these yachts brings us closer to them. It was amazing to see the wide variety of boats that are out on the market and for charter this year.
4. Day 4
Small Business Discovery
On the last day of the boat show, we took the opportunity to visit smaller companies in the industry. These were event management businesses and companies selling water toys and smaller boats. We even had the opportunity to test some of the water toys on display.
5. In Conclusion
The Palma International Boat Show was an amazing event where we met, connected with many new people and ran into some old friends.
We were grateful for the opportunity to explore different kinds of yachts and learn about new and innovative technologies and companies within the industry.
We are already looking forward to next year's show and seeing what exciting new experiences it holds for us. See you next year at the Palma International Boat Show!
