Where Charter Boats Went
We built this map from AIS position data on charter boats making round trips from their bases. Hotter colours mean more boat-hours spent there in the view you're looking at.

How it Works
We group hourly positions into coarse grid cells, using only cells with at least three different boats. We check this before smoothing the colour, so not every coloured pixel represents three boats. Areas need enough boats and trips to show, and we leave smaller samples out. This is a group picture from a subset of charter-listed sailing yachts and catamarans, and some regions are not covered yet. Colours rescale to the view unless you turn that off, so compare colours within one view, not between views.
