What is a Monohull?
- A monohull (from Greek: mono, single + hull) is one of the forerunners in ship design. A monohull design is characterized by a hull that consists of one hull section, a single hull number, and is set up in a central “tube” like shape. A distinction is often made between a cruising monohull and a racing or lean monohull. An almost two-dimensional hull yields very little interference with the wind, making it very efficient at manoeuvring within the water.
