The Kvarner Gulf is a beautiful region within the northern Adriatic Sea, which offers visitors various activities and experiences to enjoy. It is known for its beautiful towns, beaches, clear waters and rich cultural heritage.

The region is a great destination for a family sailing holiday, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor and water activities and relaxation.

  • Getting There

The best way to reach Kvarner is to fly into Rijeka International Airport near Omisalj on Krk Island. Travelling through Zagreb is an easy alternative if you cannot fly into Krk directly. From Zagreb, it is about a 40-minute flight to Rijeka. Another great option would be to fly into Zagreb, Split, Pula, or Sibenik and take a bus to Krk. You can check out the timetables to and from Krk online.

  • Mooring

Our Kvarner Sailing Itinerary has plenty of mooring, with a good mix of the marina and free-swing anchorage options. For Goli Otok, mooring at the harbour is free. For Losinj, Pag, Silba and Olib you will be able to find buoys and jetty for an overnight stay.

In Rab, there is a well-equipped ACI marina that has excellent infrastructure and amenities. Daily mooring prices vary by berth and time of the week. You can book ahead and see price lists here.

In Krk, thereโ€™s an 800-berth marina.

  • Weather

The best sailing weather for the Kvarner Sailing Itinerary is during the peak season of May to September, with the average high in May being 19ยฐC and an average high in September of 26ยฐC. July and August are the best for swimming as water temperatures will reach 25ยฐC.

Kick Back and Relax With Our Kvarner Sailing Itinerary

Day 1

Krk โ†’ Sveti Grgur - Goli Otok - 4NM

Goli Otok is a barren, uninhabited island in the northern Adriatic Sea. In 1949, the island was repurposed as a high-security prison and labour camp by the authorities of the People’s Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, together with the nearby Sveti Grgur island, which held a similar camp for female prisoners.

The prison operated until 1989, earning a reputation as the “Croatian Alcatraz” due to its strict security measures. Discover the abandoned and forgotten sites and the precious historical artefacts of the islands.

Day 2

Goli Otok โ†’ Rab - 38NM

Escape to the idyllic paradise of Rab Island and immerse yourself in a world of stunning beaches. From bustling sandy shores to serene coves, this destination offers a beach for everyone.

The crown jewel of Rab Island is the magnificent Rajska Plaza, also known as Paradise Beach. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Beaches in the World by CNN and awarded the coveted Blue Flag in 2003, Rajska Plaza is a must-visit destination.
