There’s A New Way to Enjoy Sailing & Party
Sailing has finally found a way of introducing younger non-sailors to the joys of flotilla sailing. In the recent past, a few children may have got an experience through their families, but once they grew up, it was often years before they joined those rather frigid family flotillas with kids of their own.
The Yacht Week
Then came The Yacht Week. A group of young, attractive Swedish Guys were already organising great yacht parties for their friends; it wasn’t long before they saw the obvious business potential and opened up their world to the paying public. What emerged has turned into a phenomenon. Clearly a huge gap in the market and they went about filling with both sea boots. Now they have Weeks in Croatia, Greece Italy and the British Virgin Islands.
The Next Generation
Imitation is the best form of flattery and It wasn’t long before their success spawned imitators, some trying to copy this formula for success, others seeking to differentiate themselves from the preppy brat image that has emerged.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” – Charles Caleb Colton
Med Sailors has become a serious alternative to The Yacht Week, and with other companies the Sail Week in Croatia, the market is opening up nicely. We have had our staff of three party flotillas this summer and look forward to reporting back over the Winter booking Season.
