- A Motor Yacht is a boat that uses a large diesel engine or multiple small engines to drive propellers or water jets. They differ from ordinary sailing ships because they do not carry a mast. They usually have large sterns, and some have a swimming pool on board. However, their principal advantage is the ability to go fast. Thus many are used as regular cruise liners.
