Day Skipper Quiz · Chartwork

What does the ringed symbol, a triangle with a dot in it, mean?

Pencil work on a chart. From a circle with a dot marked 1330, a line with one arrowhead runs up and to the right. From its end a shorter line with three arrowheads leads to a small triangle with a dot in the middle, marked 1430 and ringed in gold.

An estimated position (EP). A triangle with a dot is an estimated position: your best estimate of where you are once the tidal stream has been added to the course steered and distance run. A fix is a circle with a dot, and a waypoint is a square with a cross.
