In fog, you detect this ship by radar only, on your starboard bow. You are not overtaking her and a close-quarters situation is developing. Which course alteration should you avoid?
Radar screen, your heading at the top. A target 40 degrees to the right of your heading, getting closer on a steady bearing.

A turn to port. In restricted visibility there is no stand-on vessel. For a ship forward of the beam (other than one you are overtaking), Rule 19 says avoid, as far as possible, turning to port. A bold turn to starboard, or slowing down, is usually the answer.
