Sailing Racoons Rescued During Spring Clean
Amy was kind enough to share a short story of how cleaning up her sailboat turned into a wildlife rescue. She has 2 boats in a slip at a local lake; a 22’ sailboat and a 23’ wake-boarding boat. A few days ago she was at the Marina doing some spring cleaning on the boats when she discovered that a very large raccoon had got inside the interior walls of one of the other boats. After chewing up all kinds of stuff in the bins, she had given birth to a litter of raccoon pups inside the bow!
5 hours later…!
It took us 5 hours to get that girl out of there, and in the process, she abandoned all but one of her litter. We brought the 2 other babies home with us and got them in the hands of the local wildlife rescue.
Unexpected Adventure
Amy said she is always the type to get an unexpected adventure. We are looking forward to helping Amy sometime in the future with a sailing charter or vacation.
