About this yacht
The LAGOON 42 distinguishes itself as arguably the most successful catamaran from the esteemed French shipyard, thanks largely to its elegant design and impressively roomy interiors for a vessel of its size.
Our LAGOON 42's layout will please sailing enthusiasts, boasting controls that are notably simple: a self-tacking genoa and a half-height, elevated helm station located on the flybridge. The flybridge, featuring a spacious double sunbed, provides the perfect retreat for sun lovers to relax throughout the day. Meanwhile, at the bow, a snug "U" shaped seating area seamlessly integrates with the wide traditional bow nets, delivering breathtaking ocean views.

LIVING AREA

The Lagoon 42 catamaran features a traditional layout with two distinct 'sea' zones: one located at the bow, equipped with a double net and a sofa, and another at the stern, featuring the cockpit that seamlessly connects at the front to an impressive lounge area. This design offers an exceptional living space that includes an indoor lounge with a spacious table and ample seating including sofas, a practical U-shaped kitchen, and a dedicated corner for the chart table. Outside, there's an additional table that seats eight, complemented by a lengthy L-shaped sofa and comfortable folding chairs, as well as an aft sofa and a double-drawer refrigerator.
A large retractable French window blurs the line between interior and exterior spaces. The kitchen boasts a full 360-degree view and is equipped with three burners, a gas oven, a microwave, a coffee machine, and an extra cockpit refrigerator with a freezer compartment.

SLEEPING AREA

The most remarkable aspect is clearly the superior quality and comfort of the cabins: their interiors reveal a refined, stylish, and functional layout. Each of the four double cabins offers ample space, with the front cabins now featuring spacious and snug double beds, just like those at the back. Outstanding onboard living is guaranteed through careful workmanship and built-in LED illumination, complemented by the complete installation of fans in every cabin and the lounge area.

OUTDOOR SPACES

The bow features a classic design: an expansive double net provides an ideal space for those who enjoy close interaction with the sea (perfect also for children’s play) while still allowing guests to savor an aperitif on the cozy sofas located just behind the nets.
In the FLY section, you'll find a plush sunbed designed for two!
The vessel is further equipped with an impressive 100-liter-per-hour WATERMAKER, a highly efficient INVERTER, SOLAR PANELS, and four bathrooms each outfitted with electric toilets and showers.

100 lt/h Watermaker, 2 KVA Inverter, 2 Solar panels, Sea water tap in the kitchen, Top-loading freezer in the salon, Vertical refrigerator in the salon, Extra drawers refrigerator in the cockpit, Coffee machine “Lavazza A Modo Mio”, Microwave, Hair dryer, Fans in the cabins and salon, Electric wc
SailChecker Expert View

Perfect for groups SISSI is a 2023 Lagoon 42 catamaran built for larger parties, six cabins sleep up to 12 people, making it ideal for family holidays or friends chartering together. The spacious dual-hull design means plenty of room to spread out without feeling cramped, which matters on longer trips.

Standout eco-features This boat punches above its weight with solar panels, water maker, and inverter, luxuries that let you cruise sustainably and reduce dependence on marinas for freshwater and power. The electric winches and autopilot make sailing considerably easier for mixed-ability crews, while the flybridge offers a social hub for the whole group.

Solid value proposition A newer catamaran with this cabin count and modern systems typically commands premium rates, but the €4,000 deposit is reasonable and suggests competitive daily pricing through Helm Yachting. You're getting a well-equipped 2023 boat with creature comforts (water maker, solar, proper galley kit) rather than a stripped-down charter workhorse.

One honest note At 12 metres, SISSI is mid-sized for a 42-footer, comfortable but not lavish for 12 guests on a two-week charter. Confirm the base location with Helm Yachting, as we don't have that detail here; factor in airport transfer time from your nearest major hub for accurate trip planning.

The marina & destination

Based at Capo d'Orlando Marina, in Capo d'Orlando, Italy. SISSI is operated by Helm Yachting.

Contrada S. Gregorio

Why this is a great starting point

Capo d'Orlando Marina sits on Sicily's north coast, offering immediate access to the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian Islands; week one typically involves motor-sailing or light reaching to Lipari, Vulcano, and Salina, with the prevailing northwesterlies allowing comfortable passages of 15-25 nautical miles between anchorages. The marina provides a practical base for exploring protected anchorages around Panarea and Stromboli before returning westward along the Sicilian coast toward the Cefalù area, giving you a mix of overnight anchorages, small harbors, and volcanic scenery without long open-water passages.

Frequently asked questions
Can SISSI be rented with or without a skipper?
You can charter SISSI bareboat (you skipper) if you hold the relevant sailing licence, or hire a professional skipper alongside the yacht. The choice is yours when you request the quote.
What sailing licence do I need to charter SISSI?
Bareboat charter typically requires a recognised sailing licence (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, ASA, or equivalent) plus a VHF radio licence. The exact requirements depend on the country of charter — we confirm with the operator when you enquire.
What's included in the charter price?
The charter fee covers the yacht, standard equipment, and insurance for the dates booked. Tourist tax, transit log (final cleaning + bed linen), fuel, food, marina fees during the trip, and any optional extras (skipper, paddle board, etc.) are normally extra and paid at the base.
What additional costs should I expect at the base?
Typical mandatory extras are the transit log (often €200–€350), tourist tax (a small per-person-per-day fee), and a refundable security deposit (often €1,500–€5,000 depending on the yacht). Optional extras like a skipper, hostess, paddle board, or early check-in are listed on the quote.
How does the security deposit work?
The deposit is held by the operator at check-in (usually card pre-authorisation) and refunded after check-out if the yacht is returned without damage. Many operators offer a deposit-waiver insurance product that reduces the held amount in exchange for a smaller non-refundable premium.
Can I cancel my charter booking?
Cancellation terms vary by operator. Most allow cancellation with a full refund if requested more than 60–90 days before the start date, with progressive penalties closer to departure. Some operators offer a flexible-cancellation insurance product when you book.
Is the yacht insured?
Yes — every yacht is insured by the operator against damage and third-party liability. The insurance covers the yacht itself; personal effects and trip cancellation are not covered and are worth insuring separately.
What documents do I need to bring?
You'll need your passport, sailing licence (if chartering bareboat), VHF radio licence, and proof of payment. The operator will send a check-in form ahead of time covering crew details and any special requests.
What payment methods are accepted?
Charter fees are normally paid by bank transfer in advance (often a 50% deposit at booking, balance 30 days before charter). On-base extras are usually paid by card or in cash.
