SailChecker Expert View

Perfect for groups This 2022 Isla 40 catamaran sleeps eight across four cabins, making it ideal for families or friends wanting to share costs on a proper sailing holiday. The modern build year and excellent operator rating (5/5) suggest reliable, well-maintained equipment throughout.

Well-equipped cruiser You're getting serious kit here, autopilot, electric winches, air conditioning, and a chart plotter all come standard, which takes the physical strain out of longer passages. The bimini and cockpit speakers add real comfort for those warm-weather anchorages and social evenings on deck.

Solid value proposition At this size and age with four cabins and full cruising equipment, the €2,500 deposit is reasonable, and Ultra Sailing's perfect rating suggests transparent pricing with no hidden nasties. You're looking at a properly outfitted cat that won't surprise you with maintenance issues mid-charter.

One practical note The base location isn't listed here, so do check where Ultra Sailing operates, international travellers need to factor in airport transfers and connecting flights, which can vary wildly depending on whether you're heading to the Mediterranean, Caribbean, or elsewhere.

The marina & destination

Based at ACI Marina Dubrovnik, in Dubrovnik, Croatia. SAILOR VENUS is operated by Ultra Sailing.

Na skali 2, Mokošica

Why this is a great starting point

ACI Marina Dubrovnik sits at the southern tip of the Dalmatian coast, offering immediate access to the Elaphiti Islands and the protected waters around Lopud and Kolocep; week one typically involves gentle coastal hops south towards Cavtat or northwest towards the Peljesac Peninsula, with consistent northwesterly winds in summer allowing straightforward sailing between established anchorages. The marina's position makes it ideal if you want to combine urban exploration in Dubrovnik's old town with short-passage cruising, though the busy charter base means the immediate anchorages fill quickly in peak season.

Frequently asked questions
Can SAILOR VENUS be rented with or without a skipper?
SAILOR VENUS can be chartered both with and without a skipper, depending on your preference and experience level. If you're confident in your sailing abilities and hold the required licence, you can take the helm yourself; otherwise, Ultra Sailing can arrange a professional skipper to join you for an additional fee.
What sailing licence do I need to charter SAILOR VENUS?
To charter SAILOR VENUS without a skipper, you'll need a valid ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or equivalent national sailing qualification recognised in Croatia. If you don't hold a licence, you can either take a skipper or arrange a sailing course, Ultra Sailing can advise on local options.
What's included in the charter price?
The charter price typically includes use of the yacht, standard safety equipment, and basic provisioning options. For exact inclusions on SAILOR VENUS, contact Ultra Sailing directly, as packages can vary depending on your charter dates and any add-ons you select.
What additional costs should I expect at the base?
Beyond the charter price, expect to pay for fuel, mooring fees (if staying at marina), provisioning, and any optional services like skipper or crew. Ultra Sailing will provide a transparent breakdown at the Croatian base, and you'll settle these costs either before departure or on return.
How does the security deposit work for SAILOR VENUS?
SAILOR VENUS requires a refundable security deposit of €2,500, which covers potential damage or loss during your charter. Provided the yacht is returned in good condition with no incidents, the full amount will be refunded within a few days of check-out.
Can I cancel my charter booking?
Cancellation terms depend on Ultra Sailing's specific policy and how far in advance you cancel. We recommend reviewing the terms at booking or contacting Ultra Sailing directly for the most current cancellation flexibility and any insurance options available.
Is SAILOR VENUS insured?
Yes, SAILOR VENUS carries standard yacht insurance through Ultra Sailing. Your security deposit and any waiver options will be explained at the base; check your booking documents or ask Ultra Sailing about what's covered and whether additional personal insurance is recommended for your trip.
What documents do I need to bring?
Bring a valid passport, your ICC or sailing licence, travel insurance details, and any booking confirmation from SailChecker. If you're flying long-haul from the US or elsewhere to Croatia, also ensure your travel documents meet EU entry requirements and check your airline's baggage policy for any gear you're bringing.
What payment methods are accepted?
Ultra Sailing typically accepts bank transfers, credit cards, and online payment platforms. For the most up-to-date payment methods and currency options (EUR is standard in Croatia), confirm directly with Ultra Sailing when you book or at your pre-charter briefing.
