About this yacht
Prepare to set sail from the vibrant port town of Bodrum, experiencing the renowned Bodrum summer and turquoise water sailing at its best! Our Boat Spark-1 is docked at Milta Marina, right at the heart of Bodrum.

Sailing at Bodrum means; uninterrupted breeze blowing between 3-5 Beaufort, , safe and turquoise anchorage points, green hills, coolness brought by the breeze, stunning Gökova region with access to around 10 Greek islands and the Gulf of Hisarönü.

Bodrum is the first choice of all sailors who want a good sailing experience in Turkey and with all these features, in our opinion, Bodrum is one of the remarkable sailing regions in the world.

*According to www.navily.com there are 61 green (against dominant NE to W winds) mostly 4 or 5 star mooring spots within 30 nm radius which means about a half summer day of sailing away. The spots in Greek Islands within the same distance are not included in this number. If you also include 30 4–5-star green spots in Hisarönü bay (of Turkey), which is 55 nm's away, then the wider Bodrum area happen to have almost 100 beautiful turquoise Turkish bays, and in addition to that about 10 Greek Islands to explore. Another important feature is that In this area the anchorages are less crowded compared to other favorable sailing spots.

*In this area you can find the most stable summer sailing winds in the Mediterranean. Bodrum is part of Aegean and Aegean means ‘Meltemi’. It is the wind that blows between May through October due to clashing weather systems over Balkans and Anatolia. It sometimes drops or oppositely gets really strong (especially in the western parts of Aegean Sea). Nevertheless, Bodrum and Gokova forms a good and wide channel for Meltemi to keep its strength between 3-5 Beaufort almost all day and every day. It generally drops with the sun set which enable calm nights.

*Meltemi is also a wind that you may beg for it in hot summer days. Being a Northern wind, it cools down the temperatures and brings ventilation and dry weather. AC in a boat in an Aegean summer night is not of a necessity. These conditions have created a special charm for the Aegean waters throughout the entire maritime history.

*Beside the joy of sailing in the wind, the area features relaxed experience. For over 35 years of sailing in this area we have not witnessed any stoppage in water traffic during summer time. The wind rarely exceeds 5 Beaufort

*The Gökova sailing means also sailing in a spacious area (44 nm's to 13 nm's). Hisarönü bay is similar in terms of width and depth. While providing safe and calm anchorage in numerous bays, it also gives the feeling of open sea with its constant strong wind. The wind is mostly constant because there are few islands to block and destabilize the westerly blowing meltemi.

*Almost 90 percent of the mooring spots are surrounded with pine forests, and almost all of them provides clear turquoise waters. You'll love swimming in every spot. There are also 3 ancient sites (Knidos Antique City, Sedir Island Historical sight and Bodrum fortress) that you can anchor right in front and visit. Additionally, are numerous of walking terrains and seaside restaurants which you can enjoy.

In this heavenly sailing area, you do not need to pay higher rental fees to the yachts with newer makes any more. Because Spark 1 our well maintained and spacious Bavaria 40 Cruiser boat in great condition, contains all the amenities for your comfort, possesses Bavaria solidness and user friendliness with reasonable pricing!

In addition to these it has easy to manage sails and all electronic equipment (including bow thruster) for an easy navigation, got a strong solar energy supply and brand-new batteries for continuous electricity.

It offers hotel-like comfort and privacy with 2 electrical toilet/showers, a coffee machine, stove top gas cooker, an oven, and 2 refrigerators, one of them with an ice making box. Bed linens, blankets and towels are free of charge.

Spark 1 is continuously maintained for problem free cruising. The teak deck, wide sun-bathing surfaces together with an aft swimming platform contributes to an incredible swimming experience.

With all these features and competitive prices Spark-1 is the boat you can book for without any hesitation.

Well maintained boat in a great sailing area
SailChecker Expert View

Ideal for families This Bavaria Cruiser 40 suits families or small groups after a comfortable, well-equipped sailing experience without breaking the bank. Three cabins sleeping six make it roomy enough for couples or multigenerational trips without feeling cramped.

Smart, modern kit The standout features here are the solar panels, inverter, and bow thruster, practical upgrades that reduce engine use and make handling in tight anchorages genuinely easier. A bimini, swimming platform, and chart plotter round out a vessel that's been thoughtfully set up for real-world cruising, not just checked-box basics.

Strong value proposition At 12 metres with three cabins, the pricing (€2000 deposit suggests reasonable weekly rates) punches well above its weight compared to newer boats in the same size bracket. A 2010-build with this spec is honest, proven kit that delivers comfort without the premium price tag of a newer model.

One heads-up The base location isn't listed in your data, so I can't advise on airport transfers or how accessible it is for international flyers, that's worth confirming directly with Bonbon Sailing before booking, especially if you're coordinating long-haul flights.

The marina & destination

Based at Bodrum Marina, in Bodrum, Turkey. Spark 1 is operated by Bonbon Sailing.

Why this is a great starting point

Bodrum Marina sits at the gateway to the Turkish Riviera, with the Greek Dodecanese islands lying just 10-15 nautical miles north across the Aegean. Week one typically involves exploring the rugged coastline south towards Marmaris, island-hopping through sheltered bays, and working with the northwesterly winds that dominate summer sailing. The marina itself offers good facilities and is well-positioned for either a relaxed coast-hugging itinerary or a longer crossing towards Rhodes and the wider eastern Aegean.

Frequently asked questions
Can Spark 1 be rented with or without a skipper?
You can charter Spark 1 bareboat (you skipper) if you hold the relevant sailing licence, or hire a professional skipper alongside the yacht. The choice is yours when you request the quote.
What sailing licence do I need to charter Spark 1?
Bareboat charter typically requires a recognised sailing licence (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, ASA, or equivalent) plus a VHF radio licence. The exact requirements depend on the country of charter — we confirm with the operator when you enquire.
What's included in the charter price?
The charter fee covers the yacht, standard equipment, and insurance for the dates booked. Tourist tax, transit log (final cleaning + bed linen), fuel, food, marina fees during the trip, and any optional extras (skipper, paddle board, etc.) are normally extra and paid at the base.
What additional costs should I expect at the base?
Typical mandatory extras are the transit log (often €200–€350), tourist tax (a small per-person-per-day fee), and a refundable security deposit (often €1,500–€5,000 depending on the yacht). Optional extras like a skipper, hostess, paddle board, or early check-in are listed on the quote.
How does the security deposit work?
The deposit is held by the operator at check-in (usually card pre-authorisation) and refunded after check-out if the yacht is returned without damage. Many operators offer a deposit-waiver insurance product that reduces the held amount in exchange for a smaller non-refundable premium.
Can I cancel my charter booking?
Cancellation terms vary by operator. Most allow cancellation with a full refund if requested more than 60–90 days before the start date, with progressive penalties closer to departure. Some operators offer a flexible-cancellation insurance product when you book.
Is the yacht insured?
Yes — every yacht is insured by the operator against damage and third-party liability. The insurance covers the yacht itself; personal effects and trip cancellation are not covered and are worth insuring separately.
What documents do I need to bring?
You'll need your passport, sailing licence (if chartering bareboat), VHF radio licence, and proof of payment. The operator will send a check-in form ahead of time covering crew details and any special requests.
What payment methods are accepted?
Charter fees are normally paid by bank transfer in advance (often a 50% deposit at booking, balance 30 days before charter). On-base extras are usually paid by card or in cash.
