Damage waivier Bav 35 per week for reduced security deposit (up to 2 weeks)
The Damage Waiver reduces your financial liability in the event of damage to the yacht, loss or damage to ancillary equipment, or damage caused by a third party during your charter. Non-refundable: The Damage Waiver is not refundable under any circumstances. The refundable deposit covers any damage or loss over the damage waiver amount, and the customer's total financial liability will not exceed the amount of the damage waiver and the refundable deposit. Coverage: It covers any loss or accident involving the yacht, its equipment, or a third party, including all risks of damage or theft, whether due to negligence or malicious intent by the skipper or clients. Indemnification: It indemnifies all parties involved in all cases. Additional Weeks: For any additional week of the charter, an extra Damage Waiver charge will apply, amounting to half of the standard Damage Waiver cost. The payment of either the Refundable Security Deposit or the Damage Waiver applies solely to one major incident at a time. Suppose there is a loss or damage to high-value equipment (such as an outboard engine or dinghy, sails, mast). In that case, the Charterer has the right to a replacement or repair, on the condition that a new Refundable Security Deposit is paid promptly upon receiving the replacement or completion of the repair.

About this yacht
A performance-cruiser sailing boat, designed for top sailing performance in races with huge main and genoa, but also for sailing vacations for couples and families. The boat features 2 double cabins with 1 head and can accommodate up to 6 pax. Our Bavaria 35 Match add-ons are new sails (2018-2019), a new bimini top, a lazybag, and side tents in 2018. Bavaria 35 Match is perfect for “sailing lovers”, for chartering either to participate in a regatta and be competitive or to enjoy sailing with your family or friends.

SailChecker Expert View

Ideal for smaller groups. This 2006 Bavaria 35 works well for 2, 4 people who want a manageable, hands-on sailing experience without the complexity of a larger vessel. It's compact enough to feel nimble but has enough amenities to keep everyone comfortable.

Well-equipped basics. The electric winches and autopilot are genuine quality-of-life features that reduce fatigue on longer passages, while the bimini and cockpit cushions mean you won't be baking in the Mediterranean sun. For a boat of this size and age, the spec is honest and practical.

Strong value proposition. At €1,170 per week with only a €500 deposit, this represents solid economics for a two-cabin charter, you're paying for a proven platform rather than new-boat premium. NorthSailing's reputation as a operator adds confidence to the offering.

One real constraint: Two cabins sharing one head works fine for couples or very friendly groups, but anything larger risks morning queues and friction. If your party is five or six, seriously consider whether the layout suits your group dynamic before committing.

The marina & destination

Based at Platania Marina, in Volos, Platania, Greece. NorthWind II is operated by NorthSailing.

Why this is a great starting point

Platania Marina in Volos provides direct access to the Sporades Islands, with Skiathos, Skopelos, and Alonissos easily reachable within day-sail distances; week one typically involves island-hopping through sheltered anchorages with minimal boat traffic. The protected waters of the Aegean in this region offer reliable northerly winds during summer months, making it ideal for sailors seeking gentle conditions and charming fishing villages rather than exposed open-water cruising. Base provisioning is straightforward in Volos, and you can return to the marina mid-week if needed, though most charters push north towards the Pelion coast or south to the Euboea Channel.

Frequently asked questions
Can NorthWind II be rented with or without a skipper?
You can charter NorthWind II bareboat (you skipper) if you hold the relevant sailing licence, or hire a professional skipper alongside the yacht. The choice is yours when you request the quote.
What sailing licence do I need to charter NorthWind II?
Bareboat charter typically requires a recognised sailing licence (RYA Day Skipper, ICC, ASA, or equivalent) plus a VHF radio licence. The exact requirements depend on the country of charter — we confirm with the operator when you enquire.
What's included in the charter price?
The charter fee covers the yacht, standard equipment, and insurance for the dates booked. Tourist tax, transit log (final cleaning + bed linen), fuel, food, marina fees during the trip, and any optional extras (skipper, paddle board, etc.) are normally extra and paid at the base.
What additional costs should I expect at the base?
Typical mandatory extras are the transit log (often €200–€350), tourist tax (a small per-person-per-day fee), and a refundable security deposit (often €1,500–€5,000 depending on the yacht). Optional extras like a skipper, hostess, paddle board, or early check-in are listed on the quote.
How does the security deposit work?
The deposit is held by the operator at check-in (usually card pre-authorisation) and refunded after check-out if the yacht is returned without damage. Many operators offer a deposit-waiver insurance product that reduces the held amount in exchange for a smaller non-refundable premium.
Can I cancel my charter booking?
Cancellation terms vary by operator. Most allow cancellation with a full refund if requested more than 60–90 days before the start date, with progressive penalties closer to departure. Some operators offer a flexible-cancellation insurance product when you book.
Is the yacht insured?
Yes — every yacht is insured by the operator against damage and third-party liability. The insurance covers the yacht itself; personal effects and trip cancellation are not covered and are worth insuring separately.
What documents do I need to bring?
You'll need your passport, sailing licence (if chartering bareboat), VHF radio licence, and proof of payment. The operator will send a check-in form ahead of time covering crew details and any special requests.
What payment methods are accepted?
Charter fees are normally paid by bank transfer in advance (often a 50% deposit at booking, balance 30 days before charter). On-base extras are usually paid by card or in cash.
