Charter Yacht Review of the Beneteau 48

When it comes to selecting a yacht for Charter, we think the Beneteau 48 is hard to beat.

This latest offering from the Beneteau’s Oceanis line was launched at the Miami Boat Show last February and we think she’s the perfect charter yacht.  The 5 Cabin charter version can sleep up to 10, the bridge makes the main easy to adjust whilst keeping it at a safe hight – it really adds to the sporty look of the yacht too.

Under Sail

A lot is going to depend on your mainsail configuration.  But design it’s cut high over the birdge and being over powered was not an issue – the main was easy to control.  We found that she was superb just off the wind and the 7′ draft kept her pretty balanced.

Under Power

She runs on a 75bhp Yanmar Diesel – again the efficient hull shape and we were crusing back at 2,000 RPM and doing over 8 knots.

 Summary

The 48′ follows in the footsteps of the Oceanis 45′ that won a 2012 European Boat of the Year Award.  Once again Beneteau seem to have the styling spot on from our perspective   From the outside she is sleek and modern, yet below old-fashion opulence remains.  They have again increased the foot print below maying it even more airy and stylish.

The clincher for us is the transom.  It can be seen in the gallery above and on the Beneteau 45′ below.
