Do you know that happiness is celebrated in the whole world every March 20th?
Happiness is celebrated every year all over the world! On June 28, 2012, the United Nations General Assembly established the World Happiness Day, honouring the fact that the pursuit of happiness is an essential human goal. And since there are a lot of factors that constitute happiness, it is also vital to recognize the need for balanced, inclusive and equitable methodologies to economic growth, which promotes poverty reduction, sustainable development, well-being and happiness of all peoples across nations.
Who are the happiest!?
Bhutanese are known to be some of the happiest people in the globe; thus the initiative to declare a celebration of happiness came from their country, Bhutan. The celebration is set every 20th of March. Every nation can celebrate the day of happiness in their own way. However, it is suggested that there should be short seminars and events to be conducted to increase the awareness of the citizens about economic growth and development; thus further fostering happiness.
What did you do?
Every organization may create a unique event to celebrate this day. One group may decide to share happiness in an orphanage or donate some oral care packs to children in school to promote oral hygiene. In the same manner, every individual may celebrate on their own by partying or chartering a yacht with friends and family. Anything is possible!
Let’s not forget…
But what about those people who aren’t happy because of an illness or a death in the family? Well, it’s also good to reach out to them and let them know someone cares. It may not ease out the pain, but on brighter days, they will remember it and will eventually make them happy knowing that some fellows care. That being said, although the day of happiness is set to be celebrated each year, people should be able to celebrate life and happiness each day. It’s not always possible to choose to be happy, but happiness is something that is easy to achieve.
